Brainspotting taps into your brain’s natural ability to heal itself.
What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a focused, body-based therapy that helps you process and release experiences that talk therapy alone doesn’t always reach. Many clients find it helps them move through pain, anxiety, grief, and stuck patterns more quickly and gently than they expected, often without needing to revisit every detail of a difficult memory in words.
What Brainspotting treats
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma
Anxiety and panic attacks
Depression and chronic fatigue
Chronic pain and somatic symptoms
Performance and creative blocks
How it works.
Brainspotting can be a powerful complement to the other trauma-informed work we do together, and it’s especially well-suited for clients who feel “stuck” in their healing or who find that cognitive approaches alone haven’t fully addressed what they’re carrying in their body.
Developed by Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting works by using a specific eye position, or “Brainspot,” to access the deeper parts of the brain and nervous system where trauma, stress, and difficult emotions are stored.
By maintaining focus on that spot, the technique bypasses the logical neocortex (the thinking brain) to access deeper subcortical and limbic regions where trauma is physically stored, allowing the nervous system to self-regulate and heal.
Let’s talk
If you’re curious whether Brainspotting might be a good fit for you, I would happy to talk to you about it at your next session or during a consultation call.
